DeepScript

Use case

Lecture Transcription — from audio recording to searchable notes

90 min of lecture for €0.27, full-text searchable, with technical vocabulary — done in 5-10 min.

A lecture is 90 minutes of dense content, with technical terms, formulas and sometimes English mixed into German sentences. Manual notes mean missing things while you write. DeepScript transcribes the recording automatically with word timestamps — then you can review at leisure and jump to specific spots. Premium model with custom vocabulary for course-specific terms is meaningfully better than generic transcription services.

Recommended setup

Model
Premium (€0.27/hour)
Language
Premium model, set the lecture language. For lectures with English technical terms mixed in, auto-detect also works.
Custom Vocabulary
Course-specific vocabulary (e.g. "eigenvector", "photosynthesis", "socialization"), names of theories and authors. Saves a lot of proof-reading time.
Export
TXT or DOCX for personal notes, JSON if you want to build flashcards or a mind-map (Anki, Obsidian, etc.).

How it works

  1. 1

    Record the lecture

A smartphone is enough — Voice Memos, Easy Voice Recorder. Closer to the lecturer = better result. Auditorium-wide mics also work.

  2. 2

    Premium + course vocabulary

Activate Premium, fill vocabulary with key technical terms — takes 5 min and saves hours of corrections later.

  3. 3

    Study with audio-sync

Scroll through the transcript in the editor — audio plays in sync. Click any word to play that spot. Great for deepening understanding of unclear sections.

Worked example

Example: 90-min statistics lecture, DE with English terms, Premium model, vocabulary with 25 technical terms. Cost: €0.41. Processing time: ~7 min. Output: word timestamps for targeted re-listening, TXT export for personal notes.

Frequently asked questions

Is DeepScript cheaper than manual note-taking services?

Drastically. Student note-taking services charge €10-20/lecture. DeepScript costs €0.18-0.41 (depending on model and length) — 30-50× cheaper. AI accuracy is enough for study purposes, the editor allows quick corrections.

What if the lecturer has a strong accent?

Premium model with DACH dialect training handles Austrian, Swiss and North German accents well — above 95% accuracy. For very strongly accented international English (e.g. Indian or Chinese English), custom vocabulary with the key terms helps.

Am I allowed to record the lecture?

In Germany generally yes for personal use — but customs and house rules vary. Ask the lecturer at the start of the semester; it's good practice and avoids legal grey areas. Re-sharing or publishing without consent is not allowed.

Can I process multiple lectures automatically?

Yes. Free tier has 3 transcriptions, then pay-per-use. Transcribing a full semester (e.g. 5 lectures/week × 14 weeks = 70): at 90 min Premium each = ~€29 total cost for fully-searchable notes for the entire semester.
